Ola Dezern Mason

Mrs. Ola Dezern Mason, 73, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, July 24 at Trinity Elms Health and Rehab. She was born September 19, 1942 in Elkin, the daughter of the late, Eddie Hampton and Daisy Fowler Dezern. Mrs. Mason was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from the accounting department at NC Baptist Hospital following 32 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd. Short, her second husband, Leon ""Coke"" Mason, two great grandchildren, Charles Kenneth London III and Makayla Lynn London, two brothers, James Dezern and Raymond Dezern, two sisters, Madeline Dowell and Louise Hill, and one stepson, Toby Mason. Survivors include one son, Tim Short; two daughters, Tammy London (Randall) and Teresa Sells (Danny), seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one twin sister, Opal Brown; two brothers, Windell Dezern and Bobby Dezern (Ann) ; two stepsons, Wayne Mason (Linda) and Keith Mason; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Dezern and Willie Whiteheart; one brother-in-law, Sam Dowell; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with PreacherEddie Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
