Ocie Mae Epperson Boyd, 89, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on December 25, 2020. She was born on September 25, 1931 to Albert H. Epperson and Era Jessup Epperson in Patrick County, VA. She attended Patrick County School in Ararat, VA. Following graduation from beauty school in Winston-Salem, Ocie worked as a cosmetologist. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ocie was a loving wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved spending time with family and had a soft spot in her heart for children. She also loved the grand dogs. She loved working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Jocie Bowman. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Robert Boyd; two daughters, Melissa Blankenship (Mike) of Clemmons, and Lateah Dunn (Bobby) of Advance; two brothers, Golden Epperson (Alease) of Claudeville, VA and Eugene Epperson (Becky) of Ararat, VA; a granddaughter, Megan Parnell (Mack Lounsbury) of High Point; two special nephews, Greg Bowman (Mary Oian) of Melbourne, FL and Chris Bowman (Rhonda) of Apex, NC and their son, Casey; step granddaughter, Tamara Hurney (Marty) of Charlotte; step great granddaughter, Eloise; and a host of other family members. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Al Fausch officiating. Friends are requested to wear masks and may bring their own chairs for social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B.
