Norman Lee Painter

Mr. Norman Lee Painter, 89, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on July 12, 2015. He was born on August 15, 1925 to John M. Painter and Margaret Camper in Buena Vista, VA. Norman served in several offices at Waughtown Baptist Church where he was a member for 55 years. He was also a proud and loyal employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, retiring with 38 years of service. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Frances Norton Painter; 2 sons, Norman Lee Painter, Jr. and Robert M. Painter and a daughter, Teresa Jane Ebert. Surviving are his son, James Painter (Donna); and daughter, Dorothy Thomas, both of Winston-Salem; 6 grandsons; 8 great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Mildred ""Millie"" Painter. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Waughtown Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brackett officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
