Norman Gray Jones

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Norman Gray Jones, 85, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Norman was born on January 3, 1929 in Forsyth County to Linnie Columbus and Pearl Cox Jones. Norman attended Gospel Light Baptist Church for many years and later Kerwin Baptist Church, faithfully serving in both Bus Ministries for many years. His dedication to these ministries was a great testament to his care for others.


In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Durham Jones; his son, Douglas Norman Jones; and two brothers, Linnie Columbus ""LC"" Jones, Jr. and Charles Ray Jones.


Surviving are two sons, Darron Gray Jones and Derek Alan Jones (Debbie); nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Phillip ""Tink"" Jones (Jane) of Virginia Beach; two step-sons, James Whitley (Roxie) and Jerry Whitley both of High Point.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Hawtree and Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
