Norman Walter Brother" Hale

KERNERSVILLE-HALE - After a valiant battle with a long illness, Norman Walter ""Brother"" Hale, Jr., 67, of Kernersville, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 6, 2010. Mr. Hale was a native of Forsyth County and was born October 1, 1942 to the late Norman Walter Hale Sr. and Ethel Southern Hale. He was employed by Mclean Trucking Company for 17 years and was a devoted member of Woodland Baptist Church and the Watchmen's Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hale was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Maynard Hale. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Vicky Thomas Hale; their daughters Tracey Shifflette and husband Allen of Kernersville, Allison Peer and husband Manfred of Walkertown and Meredith Hiatt and husband Greg of Belews Creek. He was ""Pappaw"" to grandchildren Maranda, Eddie and wife Laura, Elizabeth, Hannah, Samuel, Ethan and Benjamin; and one great granddaughter Lilyana. He is also survived by his sister Norma Swift and husband Herman of Kernersville, brother Eddie Hale and wife Shirley of Winston-Salem, sister-in-law Jean Hale of Clemmons and brother-in-law Tony Byrd of Kissimmee, FL. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 9, 2010 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Baptist Church 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, 27106 with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Friends may join the family prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, NC. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund. The family wishes to thank our church family, the Palliative Care and 9th General Staff at Forsyth Medical Center.
