Norman "Sonny" Lawrence Cooper, Jr.

Mr. Norman ""Sonny"" Lawrence Cooper, Jr., 64, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his residence. Sonny was born on February 13, 1951 in Forsyth County to Norman Lawrence and Ruth Sink Cooper, Sr. He was a graduate of Parkland High School in 1970. After high school, he attended Guilford Tech Community College. Sonny was also the owner and operator of Cooper Construction Company which was established in 1968. In addition to his father, Sonny was preceded in death by his sister, Libby Dorsett and a nephew, Robbie Dorsett. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Sink Cooper; Tammy Cooper; three children, Brandon Cooper and wife Andrea, Mitchell Cooper and fiancé Brooke, and Stacy Cooper and husband Grant; two granddaughters, Cali and Carly Raine; two brothers, Larry and Gary Cooper; and one sister, Bunny Cooper. A funeral service for Sonny will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Cooper Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Friday at the funeral home.
