KERNERSVILLE - Norma Robbins Smith, 87, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 21, 1924 in Forsyth Co. to the late Ira Paul and Vera Elliott Robbins. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Kernersville Moravian Church as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the band for over 25 years and sang in the choir. Norma's life was her family and always will be known as ""Nanny"" to us all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Gray Smith. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Joseph K. Smith of the home; daughter, Deborah Manring and husband, Ronnie of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Gina Wagoner and husband, Marc, Shane Manring, and Alana Underwood and husband, Jon all of Kernersville; four great-grandchildren, Chad and Lori Wagoner, and Madison and Will Underwood; and two sisters, Hilda Richardson of Winston Salem, and Bobbie Hensdale of Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A Funeral Service will be conducted at Kernersville Moravian Church Chapel at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2012 with Rev. Don Winters officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
