Mrs. Norma Collins Robbins, 93, passed away quietly Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a long extended illness with Alzheimer's Disease. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends who shared a long journey with her for many years. Mrs. Robbins had lived at Brookdale Senior Living, Peacehaven Road, Winston-Salem prior to her death. Born in Forsyth County on August 9, 1922, Norma was the second daughter of Sandy Lee Collins, Sr. and Flora Doub Collins. Mrs. Robbins was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School where she studied and played basketball. She retired from the Pre-Boarding Department of Hanes Hoisery where she worked for 35 years, never missing a single day of work. A strong Christian woman of faith, she was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Tobaccoville where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served as treasurer for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was characterized by her devotion to hard work, to her family, and to her Lord and His church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thermond John ""Nick"" Robbins, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Herman Collins, S. L. Collins, Jr., John W. Collins, Sr., and three sisters: Doris C. Lewis, Virginia C. Whitman, and Becky C. Shepherd. Mrs. Robbins is survived by two daughters, Linda R. Chamelin (Bill) of Kernersville and Gayle R. Moffitt (Eddie) of King; three sisters, Ruby C. Bailey of Winston-Salem and Faye Collins and Phyllis C. Williams (Bob), both of Walkertown; three grandchildren: Terri Renigar (Mike) of Winston-Salem, Donna Holder (Dale) of King, and David Moffitt (Susan) of Hendersonville, TN; seven great-grandchildren: Meagan and Cole Renigar, Laura Holder Adams (Shawn), Kayla Holder, Grace, Glory, and John David Moffitt; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Elisha Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: New Bethel Baptist Church, P.O.
