On April 2, 2023, Palm Sunday, Norma Lee Rideout Reich, of Winston-Salem, NC, affectionately known as “Maw Maw” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, peacefully departed her life of 91 years here on earth and entered her glorious life in heaven. Mrs. Reich was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Alfred Reich, Jr.; her parents, Amos Hall Rideout and Rachel Sapp Rideout of Winston Salem, NC; and two of her sisters, Patsy Ann Rideout Holder and Diana Jane Rideout Haymore. She is survived by her siblings, Charles Steven Rideout of Winston Salem, NC, and Catherine Carole Rideout Carr of Clemmons, NC. Mrs. Reich is also survived by her two children, Richard Hall Reich (wife Marian Wilson) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Angela Reich Vaughn (husband Stephen Vaughn) of Morehead City, NC; five grandchildren, Nicholas Matthew Vaughn of Chapel Hill, NC, Rachel Vaughn Roberts of Raleigh, NC, Justin Herr Reich of Atlanta, GA, Mason Scott Reich of New York City, NY, Evan Wilson Reich of Winston Salem, NC; and seven great grandchildren, Hamilton Matthew Vaughn, Eleanor Jane Vaughn, Henry Edward Vaughn, Violet Elizabeth Vaughn, Thomas Walker Vaughn, all of Chapel Hill, NC, Beau Rideout Roberts and Reagan Leigh Roberts, both of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Reich was a loving homemaker and an active member of her church throughout her life. She taught Sunday School to preschool children and Vacation Bible School at North Winston Baptist Church. She also became involved in Women’s Ministries at Northwest Baptist Church. In her later years, she returned to the church of her childhood, First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC where she attended when able. Norma Lee loved the arts. She enjoyed music and had a beautiful voice which she shared with the local “Senior Singers” group. She also enjoyed painting, sculpting, gardening, was a creative seamstress and an avid reader. She personified the following verse from The Bible: “Let all you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14). A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
