Norma Jean Kenney Dowell

LewisvilleMrs. Norma Jean Kenney Dowell, 74, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 19, 1937 in Hemphill, W. VA to the late Charles Harvey and Elizabeth Shelton Kenney. Mrs. Dowell was a member of River Oaks Community Church and a member of the Ladies Auxillary American Legion Post 522. She enjoyed bowling, reading, and baking. Mrs. Dowell loved spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were three sisters and three brothers. Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Ted Dowell; daughter, Lori Fearington (Tandy) of Lexington; son, Neil Dowell of Gastonia; three grandchildren, Jacob Fearington, Ashley Dowell, and Erica Dowell; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a brother, Wilbur Preston Kenney of Savannah, TN. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at River Oaks Community Church with Pastor David Beaty, Pastor Sonny Flowers, Pastor Carol Fulton, and Pastor Earl Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Oaks Community Church Building Fund 1855 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank Jenn, Sandra, Sheila, the staff at Hospice and a special friend Sarah Marler for all the care that was provided to Mrs. Dowell.
