WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Noble Oscar Tucker, 93, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at his home. Noble was born May 24, 1918, in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Oscar and Della Brendle Tucker. Mr. Tucker was a very active member of Union Cross Moravian Church, serving as an elder and various church leadership roles. Noble retired after 35 years of service as a postman for the US Postal Service. In addition to his parents, Noble was preceded in death by his wife, Bronna Mae Grubbs Tucker; four brothers, Blain, Wyatt, Grayson and Ted Tucker; and two sisters, Virginia and Elizabeth. Surviving are one son, Terry N. Tucker (wife, Dorothy); three daughters, Jane Lawrence (husband, Buddy), Martha T. Knox (husband, Randy) and Shelia T. Underwood (husband, Kenny); 13 grandchildren, Darren Absher, Lessa Moore, Gina Quinn, Annie Peeler, Angie Jenkins, Jeromy Tucker, Shane McGee, Dana McGee Wadford, Cindy Pruitt, Brandon Knox, Adam Knox, Seth Knox and Emily Stanfield; and 19 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Union Cross Moravian Church with the Rev. Don Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel and other times at the home of Terry and Dorothy Tucker. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice & Palliative Care and Mr. Tucker's many caregivers for their loving care.
