Noal Gilbert Thomas, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at Trinity Elms Health & Rehab in Clemmons, North Carolina.
Noal was born on June 26, 1937, to the late James Luke Thomas and Nora Elizabeth Rothrock Thomas, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
After graduating from Griffith High School in 1955, Noal joined the United States Air Force where he served 4 years. For a period, he was stationed at Loveland Air Force Base in Colorado.
For 28 years, Noal ran a successful State Farm Insurance Agency where he served his customers with a smile and was always ready to give away plenty of State Farm teddy bears. He also qualified for annual sales awards enabling him to travel all over the world.
Noal was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic fan of the Carolina Panthers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons, loved music and he was quick to sing a good song – anytime, anywhere. Wherever he went, he was a welcoming and bright presence. Most of all, Noal showed his love for others by being compassionate and generous to countless people in need, though he never wanted any credit.
Noal was preceded in death by his parents; two older sisters, Faye Davis and Shirley Stewart; and younger brother, Steve Thomas. His survivors include Patsy Thomas to whom he was married for 36 years; daughter, Shannon LaFever (Robert) of Woodland Park, CO; sons, Brad Thomas of Charlotte and Jay Thomas (Crystal) of Winston-Salem; and eight grandchildren, Dalton LaFever, Elise Marquette (Eli), Alaina LaFever, Haydn Thomas, Sydney Thomas, Madisyn Thomas, Jackson Thomas, and Lincoln Thomas.
A celebration of Noal’s life will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 2:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Kacie Moore, Jr. officiating. A reception will follow from 3:00pm – 5:00pm in the Robert F. Miller Center at the funeral home. On Monday, January 9, 2023, at 9:00am, a private burial service will be held for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Trinity Elms Health & Rehab, 7449 Fair Oaks Drive, Clemmons, NC 27012.
