Noah Jarvis Mathis

Mr. Noah Jarvis Mathis, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1923 in Wilkes County to Joe and Leona Jarvis Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a member of Union Ridge United Methodist Church for 27 years. He was retired from McLean Trucking Company after 34 years of service. He loved to watch baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and loved being around his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ruth Mathis; one son, Mike Mathis and wife Cathy; and one grandson, Cody Mathis, all of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Union Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Elrod and the Rev. Jim Raines officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
