Nina Martin

Mrs. Nina Blackburn Martin, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem, NC.

Nina was a resident of Clemmons Village 2 for the past 3 years.

She was born on August 27, 1933, to the late William Rowan Blackburn and Dovie Richardson Blackburn.

Nina loved her children, and a special day for her was being visited by her children and going out to eat. She was an accomplished businesswoman who created two successful businesses in her lifetime. She also loved art, and she completed paintings that adorn the homes of her family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Bennett Barksdale. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Reid; her son and his wife, Barry Crews (Lynn); and her daughter and her husband, Teresa Barnes (Terry). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Due to the recent rise in COVID cases, a brief graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC, on August 26th at 3:00 PM with Pastor Grady Blackburn officiating. The family asks for those in attendance to please wear a mask.
