Nicky Hondros

Nicky Hondros went to sleep in the Lord on February 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 5, 1934, in Kalesmeno, Greece to Gregory and Eleftheria Kolokas. She came to the United States in 1955 to live with her uncle and aunt Constantine and Persephone Nichopoulos. She married the love of her life, Chris Hondros in 1959. Nicky was a lifelong member of the Philoptochos Society at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Winston-Salem, NC and served as their president. She loved being an active member in the church, and spending time with her many lifelong friends. Nicky was also an amazing bowler and was proud to display her many bowling trophies. She devoted her life to caring for her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to bake and try new recipes. Her family was so spoiled by her amazing food, which was the best of the best. Nicky was preceded in death by her parents, Gregory and Eleftheria Kolokas and sisters, Georgitsa Kolokas and Evangelia Mastoras, as well as her aunt and uncle, Constantine, and Persephone Nichopoulos. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Chris; daughters, Patty (Jonathan) Collins, Rita (James) Chrysson; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Chrysson, Nicole (Jackson) Blaylock, and Nicholas and Christian Collins; her niece, Eleftheria Kakouras; many sister and brother in-laws, nieces, and nephews, along with 5 great grandchildren, James, Jax, Rita, Robert, and Leo, who brought her so much joy the last several years. Her family will greatly miss her and will always remember her love, devotion, infectious laughter, and sense of humor. The family would like to thank Trellis Supportive Care for the wonderful care they provided, especially Netta Evans. Due to the Covid pandemic, the family will hold a private funeral at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, followed by a graveside Trisagion Service for all who wish to attend at Forsyth Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 23 at 12:15pm. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 435 Keating Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
