Nick George Zegrea

Mr. Nick George Zegrea, 78, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 20, 1936 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late George and Zoeitsa Vasoti Zegrea. Mr. Zegrea was an active member of Peace Haven Baptist Church for 44 years where he was a Deacon and a faithful member of the choir. He was also a long standing chairperson of the church administration team and volunteered in many other aspects of the church ministries. He served as a Captain in the US Army in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, the legal branch of the military. He earned a BS Degree in Industrial Engineering and a law degree from West Virginia University. He was a Tax Lawyer for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement he was Head Monitor for Wake Forest University Law Exams for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Alice Doll Zegrea; two daughters, Kimberley Ann Smith and Deborah K. Owen and husband, Danny; four grandchildren, Justin Kyle Smith, Nicholas Monroe Smith, Austin Montgomery Smith (Autumn) and Emery Alicen Owen; and one great grandchild, Lucas Wynnter Smith. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Peace Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Parrish officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Haven Baptist Church, 3384 York Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
