Nick Stevens, Jr.

Mr. Nick Stevens, Jr, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 3, 1925 in Stokes County to Nick and Hildry Young Stevens. Mr. Stevens served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Winfred, Elwood and Ronnie Stevens; a sister, Ruth George and one grandson, Daniel Thomas Stevens. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Peoples Stevens; one son, Thomas Stevens (wife Stephanie) of East Bend; a grandson, Evan Daniel Stevens and four brothers, Harry Stevens of Tobaccoville, Lowell Stevens of Winston-Salem, Marshall Stevens of Stanleyville and Ed Stevens of Seaboard, NC. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Sidney Jones and Mr. Norris Renegar officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
