Nick George Chrysson, Jr., M.D. passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the age of 61. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 25, 1961 to Faye and Nick Chrysson, Sr. He graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor’s of Science. He received a Governor’s Board of Medical Scholarships and received his M.D. from the Duke University School of Medicine. He did his Internship & Residency at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital followed by Clinical and Research Fellowships in Hematology / Oncology also at North Carolina Baptist Hospital where he was Chief Fellow in 1991-92. He started his career in 1992 as a Medical Oncologist at the then named Piedmont Hematology & Oncology Specialists (PHOA), later named Novant Health Oncology Specialists. During his career, Nick served as president of PHOA, he served on the Medical Executive Committee at Forsyth Medical Center and was the Practice Leader for Novant Health Oncology Specialists, in addition he was the System Leader of the Cancer Service Line at Novant. Nick was a brilliant doctor and practiced medicine at PHOA then Novant for many years providing great care and comfort for his patients battling cancer. Preceding him in death were his parents, Nick G. Chrysson, Sr (in 1963) and Faye Goforth Chrysson Logan (in 2017) and the recent death of his brother, Jeffrey G. Chrysson (in February 2022). Surviving are his children, Olivia and Tripp Chrysson of Pfafftown, brother Scott Logan, niece and nephew Amaya and Chase Logan all of Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law, Paula Chrysson of Winston-Salem, niece Sydney Mojica of Charlotte, NC, along with many beloved cousins. A graveyard service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 9, 2022 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Road Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the FMC Foundation (Make payable to FMC Foundation, Memo line: Simstien Fund ) or to New Philadelphia Moravian Church. The family is being assisted by Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
