Newton Leander 'Whitie' Hayes, Jr.

Mr. Newton Leander Hayes, Jr., 74, passed away April 29, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 8, 1937 in Forsyth County to the late Newton L. Hayes, Sr. and Ada Knouse Hayes. He was preceded in death by his three brothers George, Marion, and Eugene Hayes and a sister Gertrude Lineback. Mr. Hayes was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as owner of Waughtown Electric Company. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and spending time with his family. Mr. Hayes is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn Booe Hayes of the home; four daughters, Tina Wall (Rob), Tracy Williams, Wendy Bouchard (Allan), and Rhonda Hayes; two grandchildren, Holly Williams and Aaron Locklear; three brothers, Ronald Hayes (Crystal), Jimmie Hayes, and Vinson Hayes (Cathie); three sisters, Dot Cousiamono, Ann Michael, and Alberta Foltz. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
