Nettie Conrad Reed

Nettie Mae Conrad Reed, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on June 1, 2015. Nettie was born in Yadkin County on January 28, 1932 to Lelia Bailey and Pleasant Henderson Conrad. The family moved to Florida where she grew up, returning to NC to marry and raise her family. She was a member of Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ and retired from Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools after a career in food service. In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Reed; brothers, Charles, Dallas, P. H. ""Pete"" and Robert ""Bob"" Conrad; and a sister, Lillian Graham. Surviving are her daughter, Jeani Smith (George) of Lewisville; son, McKinley C. ""Ken"" Reed (Lisa) of Clemmons; and a sister, Mary Alice ""Jo"" Driscoll of West Palm Beach, FL; as well as a large extended family. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery with Mr. Mike Shoaf officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ, 798 S. Peace Haven Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the Winston Salem/Forsyth County Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
