Mrs. Nettie Brindle Coe, 88, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center. Nettie was born on May 31, 1935, in Surry Co., the daughter of the late William Rufus Brindle and Ethel Haynes Brindle. She was a faithful and active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. Nettie loved to sing in the choir, especially in the Christmas Cantatas. She also taught Sunday School. Nettie’s Baptist roots ran deep, and she instilled those values in her daughter and grandchildren. She loved being a homemaker and taking care of her grandchildren. Nettie and her husband Darrell volunteered at Forsyth Medical Center for over 28 years, and both were faithful in delivering for Meals on Wheels Senior Services for 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Brindle; her sisters, Mae Branch, Martha Adams, Myrtle Apple, Edna Wall, Geraldine Brindle and Janet Shinault. Nettie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Darrell E. Coe of the home; a daughter, Sandra C. Coone (Chuck) of King; her grandchildren, Sabrina Coone of Winston-Salem and Zachary Coone (Jessica) of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Addie, Lilly, Emma and Millie; a sister, Carolyn White of Dobson; two brothers-in-laws, Wilbur Shinault of Dobson and Jack Wall of Rural Hall; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service celebrating Nettie’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Gene Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Private entombment service will follow in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels Senior Services, 2895 Shorefair Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27105. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Brookridge Retirement Home and the nurses and doctors at Forsyth Medical center for all of the love and care shown to Nettie.
