Nelson Lucky Ford McCall

Nelson ""Lucky"" Ford McCall, died on October 31, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital. Mr. McCall was born August 1, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. Mr. McCall served his country as a career United States Air Force Military Policeman, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was decorated for his service in the Korean War, and received commendations for his service to his country during the Vietnam War. Mr. McCall was a 32° brother of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J., U.S.A., Shriners International, Shriners of North America Oasis Shriners, Charlotte, NC, and Enterprise Lodge 752 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons. Mr. McCall was a loving and supportive father to his three daughters, and was a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Ford and Vera Mae McCall; his wife of 55 years, Jane Grace McCall; his youngest daughter, Debra Lee McCall Schlessinger; and his grandson, Nelson Scott Miller. He is survived by his daughter, Myra Jane McCall Miller and her husband Charles R. Miller, and his daughter, Cynthia Faye McCall Ross and her husband Bruce Ross; his grandchildren, Raymond M. Miller, Scott C. Miller and his wife Jennifer Miller, Katherine M. Miller Mital and her husband Tom Mital, Aimee L. Schlessinger, Ronald N. Schlessinger and his fianc郩 Alisa Whittle, Nathan Passwaters, and Matthew Passwaters; three great-grandchildren that he dearly loved, Benjamin S. Miller, Samantha M. Miller, and Ethan C. Miller; a brother Howard McCall; sisters, Marlene Cooper and Barbara Stockman; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. McCall is also remembered by his former granddaughter-in-law, Amy Miller, whom he always loved. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
