Kessell, 93, died December 17,2009 at his home. He was born October 11, 1916,in Fall River, MA, the son of Nelson and Bertha Wilde Kessell. Mr. Kessell graduated from New Bedford Textile School in 1939. He was associated with American Thread Company;served as a Vice President of Hanes Knitting Companyand Vice President of BVD Knitwear.He retired as President and CEO of Goodwill Rehabilitation Center and opened the new building for Industries For The Blind. Mr. Kessell served in WWII and retired in 1972 with the rank of Colonel. He was a life member of the Reserve Officers Association, a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was a Mason since 1945 and a member of Masonic Lodge # 167. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha. Mr. Kessell is survived by his daughter, Donna Byrd and her husband Tom of Terrell; his son, William D. Kessell of Swanton, OH; 2 grandsons,Brian Byrd of Clemmons and Brandon Byrd of Bowling Green, OH; his sister in law, Mrs. Bobbie Kessell of Gastonia. Funeral services will be held Monday,December 21.2009 at 11:00 am in Centenary United Methodist Church,officiated by Rev Jack Yarbrough.Visitation with family will be from 10:00 until 10:45am in the church parlor. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
