Nelson Stuart Daubenmeyer

KERNERSVILLE- Nelson Stuart Daubenmeyer, 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 26, 1924 in Rocky Mount, NC to Lena Bell and Lester Daubenmeyer. Nelson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and especially loved his great-grandchildren. He was a devoted Christian and former member of Faith Baptist Church as Treasurer and Deacon for over 40 years. He is currently a member of Samaritan Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Nelson loved the game of golf as an avid player, but was highly successful as an Assistant Pro to Thurmon Edwards at Reynolds Park in the 1940's. He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers after 28 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby E. Daubenmeyer of Kernersville; a son, Nelson H. Daubenmeyer (wife, Wanda Ann) of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Annette Cumming (husband, Scott) and Amy Maynard (husband, Michael) both of Winston-Salem; and two great grandchildren, Alex and Reagan.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Rev. Danny Smith and Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the funeral home.
