Nelson Robert Angell

Nelson Robert Angell, 90, of Kernersville, NC, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023 at Arbor Acres surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 1, 1933, in Yadkin County, NC to the late Robert Angell, and Leona Spainhour Angell.  Dad was a beloved husband to the late Phyllis Baugess Angell of 61 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all he met.

He worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 30+ years of service before retiring.  After his retirement, he found peace in working in his yard/garden, serving his church, and going to Cherry Grove Beach where he spent countless hours fellowshipping and fishing with friends and family. 

Dad was loved dearly and brought much happiness to the many hearts he touched. He was always kind, caring and understanding towards people. He was a man that if help was ever needed, then it came so freely from him. He was a blessing and God's gift to everyone he came across.

Nelson will be remembered for his caring and gentle ways.  He had a heart of gold.  He was a “guiding light” to all that knew him.  He taught his children to give unselfishly, to love, but most importantly, he taught them the importance of walking with God. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Earlene Angell; his four children, Eric “Keith” Angell (Donna), Karen Angell (Gary Bell), Kyle Angell (Tonya), and Kim Angell; 7 grandchildren, Lindsey Russ (Ryan) and Mason Angell, Angel Broughton Moorefield (Cassidy), Casey Bedwell (Lester), Luke Angell (Krissy), Bryson Maynard and Brennan Maynard; and 7 great grandchildren, Cora, Miles, Tyler, Gabby, Carter, Max, and Oakley; 3 stepchildren, Conway Morphis (Pam), Sandy Adair (Norman), Eric Morphis (Susan); 6 step-grandchildren, and 8 step-great grandchildren.

The memories Dad leaves behind will forever be cherished by the ones who love him so.    Until we meet again Dad, we love you. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Hayworth-Miller-Kernersville, 3950 Macy Grove Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.  Burial will follow the service at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to thank Trellis Supportive Care and Arbor Acres for all their assistance in Dad’s final journey here on earth.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103
