Nellie Williams Turner

Winston Salem - Nellie Williams Turner, 84, the greatest and most loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at her home. She was born February 4, 1927 in Pittsylvania Co., VA to the late Dolan and Annie Castle Williams. Nellie was a Godly woman. She loved going to church and was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for 40 years. She took great pride in cooking for the bus ministry at Gospel Light and was known as the ""Biscuit Lady"" for over 30 years. She was a talented seamstress, who loved to sew for her family and friends. Nellie was a homemaker and raised five children while her husband of 68 years drove a truck for McLean Trucking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Melissa Turner; three brothers; two sisters and a son in-law, Steve Hale. Surviving are her loving husband, William Ernest Turner of the home; five children, Jean Hale of Lexington, Jim Turner and wife, Janet of Randleman, Randy Turner and wife, Wilma of Clemmons, Wayne Turner and wife, Sandy of Walkertown, Teresa Thompson and husband, Steve of Kernersville; twelve grandchildren, Steve Jr., Denise, Darren, Daniel, Gina, Sharon, Rhonda, Crystal, Wayne Jr., Jennifer, Amber, and Matthew; 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson, Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
