Nellie Shore

Nellie Kennedy Shore, 80, passed away Thursday May 12, 2022, at her home. She was born on March 22nd, 1942, to the late Henry Dow Kennedy and Pansy Jones Kennedy in Surry County. Nellie retired from RJ Reynolds with many years of service. After her retirement she graduated from Salem College with honors in English Literature. Nellie used that degree to teach special education and was very proud of this portion of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Benjamin Shore, a sister; Hazel Crawford, a brother; Freddy Kennedy and a daughter; Jeana Windhorn (Doug). Nellie is survived by three children; Terry Speas (Jeff), Michael Smith, and Jeff Shore (Elizabeth); grandchildren; Adam Speas (Michele), Isaiah Speas (Jennifer), Aaron Speas (Katelynn), Sarah Swing (Joe), Benjamin Shore, Victoria Shore, Michelle Wilson (Damon), Jason Windhorn, and Savannah Quinn (Steve); great-grandchildren; Brody Speas, Jonah Speas, Evan Speas, Lydia Speas, Seth, and Mikala; and a sister; Shirley Duggar. A funeral service will be held 3:00PM, Sunday May 15, 2022, at Bethania Moravian Church with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow the service.
