Nellie Ruth Jones Kennedy

Nellie Ruth Jones Kennedy went to be with her Savior on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born on September 30, 1921 in Hartsell, AL and moved to Winston-Salem in 1948. She and her late husband, Dr. Herman Kennedy, served wholeheartedly at Salem Baptist Church where she was known for her sympathy and care for those in need from the nursery to the nursing home. Their home was a refuge for many. She is survived by her children who were blessed to have her as a mom: Charles (Patty) Kennedy, Claude (Rebecca) Kennedy, Carol (Dale) Smith and Connie (Chuck) McDermid as well as eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will have a private burial. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Salem Baptist Church, 401 Broad St, Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday, April 22, at 1 pm officiated by Dr. Howard Wilburn. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory with donations to Salem Baptist Church, The Melton Williams Mission Fund providing emergency funds for missionaries.
