Nellie Grey Hilton

Nellie Grey Hilton, a real lady of charm and grace, age 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2011. She was born in Yadkin County on February 19, 1936 to the late William and Amy Warner Dixon. Nellie was raised at the Methodist Children's Home. Nellie was a member at Salem Baptist Church for 54 years, where she also attended The Rebekah Sunday school class for over 30 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Nellie was God's prime example in Proverbs 31, of what a true woman should be like. Her family will miss her greatly and realize that their loss is Heavens gain. She was preceded in death by sister Joy Purvis. Nellie is survived by husband Eugene Hilton; son Ron Hilton and wife Bonnie; daughter Donna Tugman and husband Glenn; grandchildren Holly Tugman, Aaron and Addy Hilton; mother-in-law Mary Lee Slawter; sister Shirley Wyatt (Bob) of Asheville, NC; and several special nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday May 29, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Howard Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Medical Park Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center; with special thanks going to Dr. Rolland Barrett, Dr. Elizabeth Albertson, Dr. Thomas Wolfe, Dr. Graham, and to the wonderful nurses and CNA's (9th floor oncology) at Forsyth Medical Center, who compassionately cared for Nellie.
