Nellie Elizabeth Hill Gordy

A very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Mrs. Nellie Elizabeth Hill Gordy, age 76 went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday evening July 22, 2011 at her home in Germanton. Mrs. Gordy was born October 9, 1934 in Davidson County to the late Vandy R. and late Rosie Kiger Hill. She was a very active member for 36 years at Bannertown Baptist Church in Germanton. Mrs. Gordy retired from Sara Lee Hosiery after 35 years of service afterwards she became the owner and operator of Gordy's Hardware in Germanton until 2002. Nellie was a very avid gardener and loved working in her flowers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gordy was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; T.W. Gordy, Jr. and Morgan Cox. One sister and three brothers. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Raymond ""R.T."" Gordy of the home. One daughter, Kathy Elizabeth Gordy of Germanton. Two sons; Bruce (Marie) Gordy of Rural Hall and Eddie (Debbie) Gordy of Germanton. Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Rev. Don Charles and Pastor Kenny Heath. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening July 24th from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M.
