Nellie Joyce Gann

KERNERSVILLE-Nellie Joyce Gann, 99, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Britthaven of Kernersville. She was born October 28, 1909 in Stokes Co. to the late Martin and Delia Manuel Joyce. Mrs. Gann was the oldest living member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Gann, Sr.; and son, Ronald Gann, Jr. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Smith of Kernersville; three sons, Martin ""Luke"" Gann, Danny Gann and wife Mary all of Kernersville, and Sandy Gann and wife Jeanette of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Lynn Parnell and husband Rick, Bernie Smith and wife Teresa, Lee Gann, Michael Gann and wife Tracy, Sharon Gann, Sonny Gann and wife Amy, John Gann and wife Emily; six great-grandchildren, Adam Moretz, Neal Parnell, Morgan Thompson, Taylor Gann, Megan Gann, and Eli Gann. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Rev. Jack Rose officiating. A committal will be at 4:00 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Madison. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, May 29, 2009 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Kevin Tuttle and the staff at Britthaven of Kernersville for all the love and care given to Nellie.
