Nellie Vaughn Allred

ALLRED Mrs. Nellie Vaughn Allred, 84, of Winston-Salem went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 2, 2011. She was born August 13, 1926 in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Eddie and Elva Durham Vaughn. She was a loving mother, a dedicated wife and a caring nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Stevenson Allred, Sr., three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Hess and husband, Randy of Newton and Ruth Ellen Allred of Pilot Mountain; two sons, Claude Stevenson ""Steve"" Allred, Jr. and wife, Anne, and Dwight Allred of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Samuel Allred, Stephanie Allred, Jared Hess, Hannah Hess, Jacob Hess, Joseph Allred, Deanna Brown, and Gray Allred; and two great grandchildren, Victoria and Weston Brown. Mrs. Allred was a member of Griffith Baptist Church. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Griffith Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 noon until 1:45 PM at the church.
