Neil MacPherson Brown

KING, NC-Mr. Neil MacPherson Brown, 66, of King, NC, formerly of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Mr. Brown was born on July 4, 1948 in Sharon, PA to Archie and Julia Lazor Brown. Neil graduated from Sharpsville High School and Edinboro University. He received his Master's Degree from East Carolina University, and he and his wife, Leigh Anne made North Carolina their home for many years. Neil worked as a Health and Safety Inspector for North Carolina, a job he loved because it allowed him to use his deductive reasoning skills. His hobby was tinkering in his workshop, where he built toys for his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Neil is survived by his sisters, Mary Garay of Texas, Julie of Michigan, and Nancy Scott of Pennsylvania; his former wife, Leigh Anne of North Carolina; his step-son, George Selby; and many nieces and nephews, who remember much fun building go-karts with their Uncle Neil. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Sherman Funeral Home in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Neil's memory be sent to Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
