Ned R. Powers

Winston Salem-Ned R. Powers, 77, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born January 1, 1933 in Guilford Co. to the late Ella Peoples Powers and James Samuel Powers, Sr. Mr. Powers was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from AT&T after 38 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and James S. Powers, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Stewart Powers of the home; three brothers, Robert Powers, twin brother, Ted Powers both of Oak Ridge, and John Kenneth Powers of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Toyce Ellen Southern; and his two special cats, Sambo who was also called ""Son"" and P.T. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Watts officiating.
