Nathan Harrison Vaughan, 25, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, due to sudden illness. He was born September 11, 1998, in Surry County, NC to his parents, Erik and Holly Vaughan. Harrison graduated from Calvary Day School in 2018, and Carolina University, where he played baseball, in December of 2021. He graduated with a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from the University of Mississippi in December of 2023. Harrison had his dream job of being the Lower School P.E. teacher and Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Calvary Day School. Harrison also enjoyed spending his summers as the assistant pool manager at Bermuda Run Country Club. Harrison is a gift and so loved by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He makes the days brighter with his presence, his love for others, his servant heart, and love for God. His faith in Jesus is apparent in all that he does, he says, and in how he loves. Our world is forever changed because of his precious life, and his most important goal is to point others to Christ. He leaves a legacy of love to his wife of 9 months, who is his high school sweetheart since the 9th grade, Haley Cook Vaughan; parents, Erik and Holly Vaughan; brother, Hunter Vaughan; sister, Olivia-Beth Vaughan; his paternal grandfather, Ron Vaughan; his paternal grandmother, the late Susan Vaughan; his maternal grandparents, Hagan and Norma McClellan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Vikki Cook; brother-in-law, Zack Cook; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Will Toburen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the lower school gymnasium, where Harrison taught and touched the lives of his students. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2024, at New Friendship Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Day School, 134 S. Peace Haven Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
