Naomi Ruth Miller Coulter

Mrs. Naomi Ruth Miller Coulter of Winston-Salem died March 15, 2021.  She was born December 18, 1930, in Winston-Salem, to the late Ruby Haigwood Miller and Russell F. Miller.  She graduated from Griffith High School, where she played on the basketball team.  She attended Mars Hill Junior College and graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.A. in Education.  Later in life, she attended Troy State University graduate school.

She was married to the late William R. Coulter, Sr. (Lt. Col USAF) for 60 years and was a teacher for over 20 years.  Together, Ruth and Bill raised 4 children, traveled extensively – often to see her beloved Alabama Crimson tide play any sport and to the beach, her favorite place to visit – and lived a full, blessed life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Coulter, Sr.; her brother, Robert F. Miller; her son William R. Coulter, Jr., and her granddaughter, Ramsey L. Williams.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Lynda C. Hobson (Winston – Salem, NC), Vicky C. Williams (Huntsville, AL) and Carol C. Robinson (Charlotte, NC); five grandchildren, Ryan Williams (Seattle, WA), Samantha Seldon (New Orleans, LA), Kacey Yarborough (Denver, CO), Anne Robinson (Charlotte, NC) and Jack Robinson (Charlotte, NC); and six great-grandchildren.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor and friend to many and will be greatly missed.

There will be a private service with burial to follow at Friedberg Moravian Church.
