KERNERSVILLE - Nancy Kathryn Meadows Mooney, 79, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at her home. Nancy was born on January 8, 1936 in Guilford County to the late Major Fryar and Ovelia Tucker Meadows.
Nancy was involved in the community, spent many hours volunteering at the Oak Ridge Horse and was active with the Republican Party. She attended Central Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. The first WMU President, and a Sunday school teacher. She made many crafts, wrote and published five cookbooks, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Rogers Mooney; a sister, Lynda Meadows Taylor and a granddaughter, Bridgette Mooney.
Surviving are four children, Roger Mooney, Mitch Mooney, Duchess Bennett and Brad Mooney; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Mooney, Hunter Mooney, Kristen Mooney, Tanner Bennett, Brittany Duvall, Isaac Bennett, Erik Mooney and Justin Mooney; eleven great-grandchildren, Austin and Shane Mooney, Makenzie, Madison and Lailah Duvall, Whitney, Wyatt, Brayden and Greyson Bennett, Lacy and Payten Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel and at other times at the home of Duchess Bennett, 2905 Oaktop Circle, Greensboro, NC 27410.
