Nancy Elizabeth Johnson

Nancy Elizabeth Johnson, age 47, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Ann Davis Johnson. She is survived by her father, Robert L. Johnson, Jr., sisters: Janie Johnson, Carol Johnson (Bo) Winn, brother, Robert L. (Dawn) Johnson III, nephews Joey (Scarlett) Winn, Tyler Johnson; nieces, Heather and Jennifer Johnson, Kelly (Chuck) Johnson Petre, Mary Winn and great-nephews, Justice Cardenas and David Winn. Nancy has been a resident in a UMAR group home since 1989 in Charlotte and Winston-Salem, where she has many devoted friends including other residents and staff. She was a client at The Enrichment Center, where she gave expression to her artistic talents. Nancy excelled in ice skating and won many blue ribbons at Special Olympics competitions. As a figure skater, Nancy represented the United States twice at the International Special Olympics. Nancy also loved to paint, knit, swim and bowl. Visitation is at 10:00 AM at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton St., on Friday, July 24, 2009. A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held also at Wesley, on Friday, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bret Cogan will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make donations to UMAR, P.O.
