Mrs. Nancy Lou Lindley Hawks, 83, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a brief illness. She was born June 8, 1930 in Winston-Salem, NC to Robert Ellis Lindley and Alma Elizabeth Bodford. She was married to the late Olen Elwood Hawks and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her family and church. She particularly enjoyed going to Wednesday morning Bible study at her church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was also preceded in death by three brothers, and a sister. Surviving are her three sons, Steve Hawks (Mona) of Clemmons, Randy Hawks (Rosa) of Lewisville, Kerry Hawks (Pam) of Winston-Salem, and a daughter, Tracy Chambers (Michael) of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Chris Hawks (Amanda); Laurie Cunningham; Jeffrey Hawks, Casey Coté (David); Wendy Hawks, Maddy Chambers, Meredith Chambers; and four step-grandchildren, Aprile Helms, Maria Joyce, Crystal Helms, and Ryan Jacobs. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Cunningham, Amelia Cunningham, Rowan Hawks, Holden Reavis, Jesse Ayers and Zackary Fann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Charles B. Carver officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
