Nancy Miller Garrison

Mrs. Nancy Miller Garrison, 90, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Arbor Acres, the United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born December 23, 1923, in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late, Carl Thomas and Ruby Tucker Miller. She met her husband, John William Garrison, at a church sponsored event during World War II. They became missionaries of the United Methodist Church and served in Brazil from 1954 until 1986. They continued living in Brazil following retirement. Mrs. Garrison was a loving Christian woman who loved her family. She also loved classical music and the piano. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five siblings and her husband in 2005. Survivors include five children, Nanette Rutsch and husband, Steve; and John Garrison and wife, Joy of Falls Church, VA; Jane Dytz and husband, Edison, of Brasilia, Brazil; and Marcia Wilkinson and husband, Mark, and Rosie Miller Garrison of Winston-Salem; ten grandchildren, Christina, Katie, Melissa, Marcos, Marcio, Alex, Alicia, Drew, Jessica and Nicholas; four great grandchildren and one sister, Frances Ditto of Lexington, KY. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, June 8, 2014 AT 2:00 pm at Robinson Hall at the Asbury Center in Arbor Acres with Chaplain Douglas Suggs officiating.
