Nancy Strailman Flynn

God placed His loving arms around our Mom and our Mimi and guided her to heaven from this life on December 6, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Nancy Strailman Flynn, 86, was born in Petersburg, VA on January 8, 1929 to the late Minnie Strailman Rainey and Wallace Sledd Strailman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Flynn, Sr. (Jimmy), a son, James Richard Flynn, Jr. (Ricky), and a sister, Virginia Lee Brockwell. Nancy graduated from Stratford Hall College in Danville, VA. She and her husband were owners of Flynn's Coffee Shop. Nancy also worked in the catering and real estate business. She served on the campaign committee to help bring Wake Forest University to Winston-Salem. Nancy volunteered at Medical Park Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees over the years. She was a member of The Christian Fellowship Sunday school class. Nancy enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, crafts, reading, watching Wake Forest Basketball and being with her family. Nancy was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Cathy Amos and husband Jim, and son, Doug Flynn and wife Charlotte; her grandchildren, Matthew (fiancée Vickie), Michael (Ilana), Jonathan (Renessa), Steven, Alisha (Chandler); Great-grandchildren, Cassie, Juliana, Jaden, Allison, Lyla, Annabelle, Gavin, and Sophia; a niece, Sarah Matthews (Bob). A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Ardmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jock Ollis and the Rev. Lisa Tanico officiating. Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Ardmore United Methodist Church or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
