Mrs. Nancy Louisa King Fiorey, 80, of Clemmons passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 14, 1928 in Woburn, MA. After living most of her younger years in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and graduating from Framington State with a Dietitian's degree, Nancy moved her family to Connecticut where she held the position of Head Dietitian at Hartford Public High School in Hartford, CT for over 30 years. In 2003 she moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. Nancy enjoyed every minute of her retirement years as it gave her more time to knit. She took great pride in giving those items she knitted to family, friends and newborns. Her happiest moments were with her family during get-togethers when she would just love to sit and listen to them banter with one another and reminisce. While she enjoyed their company, one thing Nancy coveted most was her independence and she enjoyed that until the time of her death. Although she was independent, she did not live alone because there were always beloved companion dogs in her life. Nancy rarely missed a televised Red Sox game and was fortunate enough to have seen them win the World Series. When baseball season was over, football, hockey and college basketball got their fair share of Nancy's viewing time. As a member at Clemmons Moravian Church, she enjoyed spending time with the Young at Heart group. Because of her special connection with children, Nancy loved the opportunity to be involved with the Preschool at Clemmons Moravian Church where she made snacks and collages each and every week to correlate with the letter, number or color of the week. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Myra Julia King. She is survived by her children, Peter K. Fiorey and wife Ramona of Fayetteville, Robert L. Fiorey and wife Leslie of East Hartford, CT and Myra McGonigle and husband David of Advance; her grandchildren, Kyle Mastropasqua and wife Jonna of Hubert, Erin Fiorey of Fayetteville and Nicole Fiorey of East Hartford CT. A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Q. Ray Burke officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Nantucket, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Clemmons Moravian Church, PO Box 730, Clemmons, NC 27012. Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is serving the family.
