Our precious Nannie, Mrs. Nancy Jane Cumbie Chouinard, 78, was greeted by The ONE, January 30, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 1, 1932 in Forsyth County to Fairy Williams and William Jackson Cumbie. ""Mrs. Nancy"" was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church. She was a star basketball player with Sedge Garden High School where her classmates fondly nicknamed her ""Pug""; ""Full of energy, full of pep, never still and that's her rep."" She was truly a spitfire from the word go. She was an avid Carolina basketball fan hence they rocked the house twice her last week ""for their best girl"". She was also a diehard Redskins fan. Mrs. Nancy loved bridge, friends, the ocean, traveling, eating out, and laughter. She cherished her church family and was a loving wife, mother, and Nannie. Surviving are her daughter, Denise Chouinard-Thompson and husband Army LTC. William David Thompson, III' two grandchildren, Hannah-Jane Thompson, Sarah-Elizabeth Thompson; and her grand-dog Maizy Grace. A funeral service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 7:30PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Konnoak Baptist Church, 400 McLean Ave. Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
