Nancy Bunch

Nancy Jane Marlow Bunch, age 82, passed away peacefully at Arbor Acres in Winston-Salem on February 13, 2018. Nancy was born on May 28, 1935 in Hickory, NC. Nancy was the daughter of the late John Burton Marlow and Nora Bell Bolick Marlow. On February 5, 1955, Nancy married Rev. Robert P. Bunch at Bethel Methodist Church in Hickory, NC. Nancy attended Lenoir Rhyne College and worked as a secretary at Shuford Mills in Hickory. Nancy and Bob enjoyed the Methodist Church Circuit from 1953 to 1989. Together, they raised 4 children while moving around the NC Western United Methodist District. Nancy graduated from High Point College in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in education. She went on to teach public elementary school in Asheville, NC. After moving to Conover, NC in 1979, Nancy worked with social service in their AFDC program. Nancy and Bob moved to Winston-Salem in 1984, where she worked as a secretary at Clemmons Baptist Church and then later at Arbor Acres Methodist Retirement Home. Nancy enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, sewing, baking, and travelling with Bob and her family. Nancy was an active lifetime member of United Methodist Women, and enjoyed her friends company at Lake Junaluska during annual conferences and many summer trips there. One of her favorite past times was playing Canasta with her close friends. Nancy was always a gracious hostess of her gatherings. She had many talents and enjoyed sharing them with others. Those left to cherish her memories include her children: Keith Bunch (Lisa), Lee Bunch, Beth Sawyer (Tom), Eric Bunch (Robin); as well as her grandchildren: Krae Brennan Bunch, Melissa Sawyer, and Sarah Sawyer. Nancy's family would like to extend special thanks to the whole staff at Arbor Acres for the last 5 years of love and kindness they've shown. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Mahathey officiating.
