Mrs. Nancy Bostick Taylor, 84, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Ripley, Mississippi on February 14, 1939, to the late Onnie and Olga Nance Bostick. She grew up in Memphis, TN where she met her husband, Charles Taylor. They graduated from Messick High School and married on June 20, 1957. They were married for 56 years until Charles’ death in 2013. She was a devoted wife and supported Charles through many moves to enhance his career with Lowe’s Companies. She had the attitude that every place they moved should be treated as if she would live there for the rest of her life. Because of this, she cultivated friendships wherever she lived. She nurtured those friendships and was intentional about maintaining them. Nancy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010 and, true to her nature, she dealt with her illness with grace and strength. She surpassed all predictions for her longevity. Never fearing death, she knew that her death would result in the ultimate victory – Heaven with Jesus. Nancy was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston Salem. She was active as a mentor with the Titus 2 Ministry and loved encouraging young women in their faith and providing support and friendship. She was also a letter writing mentor for Calvary’s prison ministry. She enjoyed volunteering at Forsyth Medical Center in the flower room. Nancy and Charles actively supported the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. A highlight was traveling with the Samaritan’s Purse team to pass out shoe boxes to the children of the Dominican Republic. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother gave her great joy. Her family enjoyed her quick wit and genuine love for them. Her positive outlook on life and her faith were a testimony to her family and all who knew her. Preceding her in death was her husband, Charles Edward Taylor. Surviving is a son, Stan Taylor (Linda); daughter, Marcia T. Parsons (Phil); six grandchildren, William Charles Taylor, Jackson Edward Taylor, Katherine Ellen Taylor (Eric Jennings), Kinsley Parsons Merrill (Patrick), Cami Parsons Creed (Sheldon), and Stefan Charles Parsons; five great-grandchildren, Lillie Merrill, Buddy Merrill, Charles Richard Taylor, Chaynning Taylor, and Axel James Creed; two sisters, Jane Pugh (Jim) and Jo Meador (Ken); brother, Paul Bostick (Carol); also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 27, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Truett Williams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
