Myrton Bascom Daniel

Mr. Myrton B. Daniel, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Daniel was born July 9, 1926 in Durham, the son of the late Bennie Daniel and the late Jean Shute Daniel. He was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Gibson Sunday School Class. Mr. Daniel graduated from Elon University and worked for ISO (Insurance Services Office, Inc.) and was a veteran of WW II serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Old Hickory Council Boy Scouts of America since 1965 where he very active, and attended three national Jamborees, and receive multiple scouting awards. He was also a member of the Ardmore Community Club. He received many awards including the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Laity award and Outstanding Ardmore Citizen of The Year in 2000. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Elizabeth Daniel, and a son, Benny Ray Daniel as well as his two step-daughters, Linda Sommers and Carol Barker. Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife, Doris McNeill Daniel; a son, Kenny G. Daniel and wife Rhonda of Winston Salem; a step-daughter, Carol Vick and husband Brad of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Cogan officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
