Myrtle Lois Watkins

Myrtle Lois Watkins, 81, a lifelong resident of Lewisville entered into eternal rest Tuesday April 11, 2017. She was born Feb. 20, 1936 in Forsyth County to Walter and Erma T. Watkins. Miss Watkins graduated from Gardener Webb Junior College and Carson Newman University. She was a dedicated school teacher, teaching first grade at Old Richmond Elementary School. With a passion for music, she served as church organist for several area churches; and remained an active member of Unity Moravian Church for as long as her health permitted. Miss Watkins enjoyed cultivating daylilies for her own yard as well as sharing them with others. Most of all, she was passionate about her many cats, lovingly providing for all their needs. She was preceded in death her parents and is survived by many cousins. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2017 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Barry Foster and Rev. Dr. Bill McElveen officiating. There will be a viewing from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Helen Coram; Trinity Elms Health and Rehab for their love and care; and a special ""thank you"" to Hospice volunteer, Skip Tussy.
