Myrtle Kreeger Smith

KERNERSVILLE-Myrtle Lazon Kreeger Smith, 74, a loving mother, and grandmother, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born May 6, 1934 in Forsyth Co. to the late William Henry and Lottie Catherine Nichols Kreeger. Myrtle retired from AMP after 24 years of employment. She also was employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 15 years prior to her retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Odell Smith; and a sister, Joann Beauchamp. Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Richards of Kernersville; three sons, Jeffrey Smith and wife Paula of Clemmons, Mark Smith and wife Christie of Thomasville, Terry Lee Smith of Kernersville; one brother, Henry William Kreeger and wife JoAnne of Winston Salem; three sisters, Martha Shoaf of Winston Salem, Janet Lane and husband Arley of Kernersville; and 6 grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday, April 10, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Kernersville Chapter, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
