Myrtle Brinkley Hoots, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away July 25, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Powhatan County, VA to the late Frank W. Brinkley and Della Edwards Brinkley. She was a charter member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church and was a member of the Friendship Class and Northwinds Bible Study Group. She attended Hanes High School and retired as Regional Office Manager of the Burger King Corporation. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all that knew her. Myrtle was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters: Charlie, Elbert, Robert (Bob), and Jackson (Jack) Brinkley, Stella Gilbert, Lula Poore, & Clarissa Robertson. She is survived by her son, David Hoots and his wife Henrietta, and their children, Alexis and Joshua (Josh); nieces and nephews: Sandra Barker, Doris Drinkard, Evelyn Gottenstrater, Evelyn Mayo, Sue Quay, Linda Settle, Frank Brinkley, Reed Gilbert, David Poore, and Keith Robertson. She is also survived by many loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
