Muriel Susan Kovacs Jones

In loving memory of a wife, a mother, a grandmother, & a friend to many…we mourn the passing of Muriel Susan Kovacs Jones, 72, of Lewisville, on 07 August 2023, after a short illness.  Muriel was born in Bethlehem, PA to Frank & Susan Kovacs on 28 June 1951.  She always said that she had the best childhood enjoying winter activities in PA as a youth & cruising the beach as a teenager when the family moved to Wilmington, NC.  Muriel studied at Western Carolina University to be a social worker.  She met her husband Ed in a sociology class in her junior year, & she shared class notes with him that began a friendship & a subsequent 49yr marriage.  Muriel finished her social work degree at UNC-G in 1995 & provided care & support for the needy in Forsyth County through her work with Sunnyside Ministries, Crisis Control, & Doctors Care.  In later years, she was especially devoted to services for the elderly as a Meals-on-Wheels, Senior Services, & Trellis volunteer.  Muriel filled her retirement with travel, a passion for Pickleball, her bridge groups, her volunteer work, & her devotion to family.  Her care & comfort in last days were expertly & tenderly managed by the professionals at Trellis Supportive Care Hospice in Winston-Salem.   She leaves behind to celebrate her memory her husband Ed, a son Ross (Sarah), two extraordinary grandchildren (Charlotte & Ethan), and a host of family & friends.  Memorials may be made to Trellis.  A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 3,2024 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
